Job Title: Patient Access Director

Contract Term: TBD (tentatively late March 2025 - May 2026)

Role: Hourly

Position Summary: Healthlink Advisors is seeking an experienced Patient Access Director to lead the development and execution of a comprehensive operational playbook based on prior assessments. This role will focus on implementing strategic transformations, optimizing workflows, and ensuring seamless integration between patient access operations and IT systems like Epic. The ideal candidate has a strong background in healthcare operations, change management, and cross-functional collaboration to drive efficiency and improve the patient experience. A key component of this role will be the creation of a structured playbook that outlines client actions necessary to implement and sustain key patient access disciplines such as Template Optimization, Centralized Scheduling, Call Center Operations, Online Scheduling, and Referrals Optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement best practices for patient access operations based on prior experience and industry standards.
  • Lead transformational strategies to optimize workflows and improve performance.
  • Collaborate across departments, including Operational, Clinical, Finance, HR, and IT leadership.
  • Maximize the use of Epic capabilities during implementation, including MyChart, to create market advantages.
  • Enhance efficiency, productivity, and patient satisfaction.
  • Identify and execute strategies to improve authorization turnaround times.
  • Standardize and consolidate appointment types to streamline scheduling.
  • Assess and implement centralized vs. hybrid scheduling models to optimize access and operational efficiency.
  • Design and execute a comprehensive playbook that provides actionable steps to implement key patient access improvements, ensuring long-term operational success.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in patient access operations and industry best practices.
  • Proven ability to lead strategic execution and change management.
  • Hands-on experience with Epic and technology-driven operational improvements.
  • Strong skills in operational restructuring, team leadership, and process improvement.
  • Experience in cross-functional collaboration across healthcare departments.
  • Previous advisory or interim leadership experience.

  • Ability to balance operational needs with technology-driven solutions

Working Conditions:

  • Works in a virtual office setting supporting ET time zone
  • Ability to travel at least 25% to client locations
