I. GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Epic Project Manager coordinates all aspects of population health and patient experience projects, including stakeholder engagement, process optimization, decision-making, and the project plan. This role supports the Program Manager (HLA) with a dotted line to the client's Sr. Director of IT Applications and should participate in project scope discussions, ensuring alignment with population health and patient engagement goals and metrics.
The Epic Project Manager works in close partnership with operations to ensure alignment between technical implementations and strategic objectives, while managing cross-functional teams and resources. The role requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills to ensure successful outcomes across complex projects. Familiarity with Epic’s population health suite (i.e., Healthy Planet, Compass Rose, MyChart Care Companion, Cheers Campaigns) and healthcare data analytics is preferred.

II. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Responsibilities:

  • Project Oversight: Manages multiple, simultaneous IT projects under the population health and patient experience umbrella, coordinating timelines, resources, and deliverables.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Coordinates between clinical, administrative, and IT teams to ensure a unified approach to managing patient care, focusing on preventive care, chronic disease management, and improving patient engagement.
  • Data Analytics and Reporting: Works closely with analytics teams to develop reporting toolsets based on operational need, focusing on patient populations, care gaps, and performance metrics within Epic's Population Health Suite.
  • Compliance: Works closely with Information Security, Compliance, and Legal teams to ensure that IT solutions meet regulatory and security standards.
  • Go-Live and Post-Implementation Support: Participates in the creation and execution of go-live plans for new initiatives, including post-implementation monitoring and support.

III. JOB REQUIREMENTS / SKILLS / EDUCATION / ETC.:

A. Job Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent analytical, technical, and organizational skills demonstrated through prior healthcare IT experience.
  • Ability to independently research and perform analysis to resolve complex issues.
  • Ability to understand customer requirements and their impact on technical directions of a solution.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to manage work independently in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Excellent customer service orientation, including oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Toolsets (e.g., Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint)
  • Strong understanding of healthcare business processes and technology preferred.
  • Flexible and can-do attitude.
  • Must be a team player.

B. Experience:

  • 5 years of experience in healthcare IT, preferably with experience in population health, Epic implementations, or project management.
  • Experience managing interdisciplinary projects required.

C. Licenses/Certifications:

  • PMP or equivalent certification strongly preferred.
  • Epic certifications relevant to population health or patient engagement preferred.

IV. Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

  • Works in a virtual office setting supporting ET time zone.
  • Ability to travel at least 25% to client locations.
